On December 6, 2023, Christine Sinclair’s retirement gala filled BC Place with over 48,000 fans. The stadium was renamed “Christine Sinclair Place” for the night. Nike and CIBC sponsored the event, called “Party on the Pitch,” and our team was right in the middle of it running a live heat transfer printing activation.
The concept was simple and memorable. Artist Carson Ting created three custom illustration badges celebrating Sinclair’s career. Guests chose their favorite design, and our crew heat pressed it onto Nike hoodies on the spot. No order forms, no wait times. You walked up, picked your artwork, and left wearing a piece you couldn’t buy anywhere else.
Running a live activation in a stadium is a different animal than working in the shop. Everything has to be dialed in before doors open. The heat, the timing, the placement. When the crowd comes, it doesn’t slow down.
Being part of a night that celebrated the greatest goal scorer in soccer history, right here in Vancouver, was something our team won’t forget. Sinclair’s 190 international goals, three Olympic medals, and two decades on the world stage made this more than a printing job. It was a piece of local history.
